FAITH M. LOTSIKAS, DVM, CCRT
Sports Medicine and Canine Rehabilitation
Dr. Faith Maree Lotsikas is a native of Scotland, and grew up in rural Virginia with a strong love of dogs and horses. She has been involved in veterinary medicine for over 17 years, first as a licensed veterinary technician, then as a veterinarian.
Dr. Faith earned her veterinary degree from the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Upon graduation, she worked in Ocala Florida for a large equine referral practice that primarily focused on lameness and surgery of Thoroughbred racehorses. Once married to Dr. Peter Lotsikas, his career path led them to Texas, and then Iowa. This gave Dr. Faith Lotsikas the opportunity to practice in various small animal and equine hospitals, animal shelters of impoverished areas, and busy metropolitan emergency hospitals. The common interest throughout her diverse career has remained in lameness evaluations. She has a passionate desire to be able to offer her patients much more than just pharmaceutical management of their injuries, arthritis, advancing age, and total body wellness. Dr. Faith believes the foundation to maximizing the health of her patients lies in compassion, thorough examination, and excellent client communication.
Since joining VOSM, she has dedicated herself to the art of rehabilitation for companion and athletic canines. She completed her rehabilitation training at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute, and her certification process is under way. She also plans to study Chinese medicine and acupuncture, as a complement to what she currently offers her patients.
Dr. Faith is an amateur artist, and has medical illustrations published in veterinary literature. She enjoys pet portraiture and has been commissioned for several paintings. Reminiscent of her Scottish Grampa, a shepherd, and his amazing border collie Nora, Dr. Faith also aspires to train and compete in herding trials with a dog of her own.
Dr. Faith resides in North Potomac, MD with Dr. Peter Lotsikas, their two little girls, two dogs, and two cats.
