The Spine Center at VOSM
We are excited to announce the launching of The Spine Center at VOSM, a one-of-a-kind center specializing in advanced and innovative treatment for patients with back pain and injuries, including spinal diseases and disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Services include non-operative and operative treatments for spinal deformities, fractures, infections, tumors, and arthritis. The Spine Center will also receive, diagnose, and treat patients with diseases of the brain and nervous system.
Central to the Spine Center's launch is the addition of Dr. Ryan Gallagher, a veterinary neurosurgeon who completed his residency in Neurology at North Carolina State University; one of the nation's premier neurology training programs.
The Spine Center's state-of-the-art facilities will provide patients the most advanced technology for cutting-edge diagnosis and treatment. Renowned clinical expertise, dedication to research, innovation, and development, along with VOSM's mission of providing a standard of care and experience that rivals what is available to humans makes The Spine Center at VOSM one of the nation's premier centers for spine and neurologic health.
The Spine Center is now accepting consultation appointments and will be fully operational on August 8, 2011.

VOSM highlighted on ABC2 News
Three of our patients made headlines and touched the hearts of
our staff and all who heard their story. In a litter of ten puppies turned over
to Pet Rescue of Maryland, three puppies were born with forelimb deformities.
LuSeal, Hope and Seal each suffered from severe congenital elbow dysplasia,
which would only get worse with time. Surgery was recommended to correct the
dysplasia and give them a chance at a normal life.
Pet Rescue of Maryland, which is run completely by volunteers,
reached out to our local community on ABC2 News for donations and received a
great response. Here, at VOSM, we offered all of the surgeries at a discounted
rate, and our combined efforts allowed the puppies to have surgery soon after
their consultations.
Megan Pringle, of ABC2 News, visited our facility the day of
surgery to watch these three puppies go through the day that would change their
lives, including heading into the operating room with our surgical staff.
Megan and her crew returned the following day to check in and
see how well they were all recovering. The surgeries went very well and were
successful in correcting their dysplasia –however these puppies do have a long
road of healing and rehabilitation therapy ahead of them. We will certainly keep
you posted on their progress, so please check back often!
